Voices of Inspiration Header

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) – which assists GSC with math, reading, speech and counseling support services – is a co-sponsor of the “Voices of Inspiration Award for Teaching Excellence.” GSC classroom and “specials” teachers and support staff certainly are deserving of such an award, so please consider nominating the exceptional teacher in your life!

Twenty-three finalists, one teacher from each of the 21 Montgomery County public school districts, one teacher from the MCIU, and one teacher from a Montgomery County non-public school, will be recognized with a commemorative plaque. From these 23 finalists, three winners (one high school, one middle school, and one elementary school teacher) will be honored with Freedom Credit Union’s Voices of Inspiration Award and $500 each.

Also, the school in Montgomery County with the most nominations will win a cash prize of $500 for their school to use for any educational purpose. You can read more about the program by clicking on the banner above or by clicking here.

Please note that the deadline for nominations is Monday, March 24

Congratulations to “Up To No Good,” winners of our third annual Trivia Night on Saturday. Team/table members included Sara Murphy, former Home and School board member who initiated and ran the first two GSC Trivia Nights, and her mother, Joanne Redick, long-time St. John of the Cross School secretary.

Up To No Good edged out “Bag Bingo May 9th” in a one-question tie-breaker for the win, and last year’s winning team, Super G, finished two points short of the leaders after the 10th round of questions and answers.

Thanks to all of the teams and individual players for your participation and support! We hope you had fun!

The Home and School also thanks Shirley Fleming, who prepared the categories and questions and acted as the evening’s quiz master for the third year in a row.
