Our 5th grade students graduated from the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program on Thursday, May 9th, in a ceremony in GSC’s gym that was attended by family and friends. The D.A.R.E. classes this year were under the instruction of Detective Michael Scarpato from the Upper Dublin Township Police Department. Detective Scarpato spoke honestly to the students about the importance of making good choices. As an added requirement of the program, each student composed an essay explaining what they learned in D.A.R.E. The essays, written under the supervision of fifth-grade teacher, Melissa Gregory, included a pledge to make wise decisions regarding drugs, alcohol and tobacco. This year’s winners were Lily Donovan and Joe Fox. Certificates, a D.A.R.E. pin, and bumper sticker were awarded to each student. The evening concluded with a little celebration. Visit our photo gallery for more pictures! Congratulations, 5th Grade! After crowning our Statue of the Blessed Mother and praying the Rosary this morning, Sister Helen distributed the Student of the Month awards for March and April. One student is chosen from every class to receive the Student of the Month Award. Students are chosen by their teacher to be recognized for their daily actions that show they are making a difference in the lives of others.
